Sounds harsh, but the same thing (almost) happened to me in TX back in 2001 or 2002. I was about half a mile or a mile from my covered parking spot, and ppl stopped under the interstate overpass just before my exit. I could almost literally see my covered parking spot, and had to sit there and get pumelled by hail. :-( My old post is here somewhere. You got off easy if you only have 50 dents. I probably have several times that many on my hood alone. I got dents in EVERY panel. A, B and C pillars? Yup. Trim strips on the doors? Yup. Panels in front of and behind T-tops? Yup. I had full coverage, but they only gave me $1800. Luckily, the hail dents are small (hail was nickel, maybe quarter, size), so you don't really notice them unless you are right on top of the car, and in most panels besides the hood and a couple on the fenders, I have to point them out for anyone to even notice. I know it sucks, but don't let it stop you from doing your TT swap. It didn't stop me :-)
